Petroglyphs can be found in many places throughout Zion National Park. The petroglyphs at this location are in great shape as they are hidden in a wash area not far from the main road. Unless you read about this location from a blogsite or someone has given you the GPS coordinates, most people would never find them. The petroglyphs are etched into a very high wall and the National Park Service has put a wooden railing directly in front of glyphs to prevent people from getting so close to them.
You can park on the main road and hike down to the site. The hike is an easy half mile round trip depending on which route you take, you can walk under SR9 via an old brick tunnel.
To reach the petroglyphs, find a safe path down the hill beside the wooden fence on the highway into Clear Creek. Turn right and follow the small wash to a tunnel under SR9. Walk through the tunnel and continue on this wash to a high cliff on your left. The petroglyphs are along this cliff separated from the trail by a wooden fence. The trail is uneven in many places and can be slippery at times.
As always, please practice petroglyph etiquette. Look and observe, but do not touch. Preserve petroglyphs by not touching them in any way. Even a small amount of the oils from our hands can darken the petroglyphs making them impossible to see.
